Frome Selwood were at Castle Cary in the M.S.L. and gained 14 points 75-61 thanks mainly to Colin Webb, Joe Jones, Brian Lye, Mike Mason with an excellent 34-7 rink win. Terry Joyce, Bob Norris, Peter Simenton and Nigel Fricker also won 17-12.
But at home to Wyrral Park, also M.S.L., Selwood only took 2 points thanks to Graham Atkinson, Mike Bishop, Percy Reynolds and Brian Reed who finished 22-10 but could not get the 4 shots needed on the last end which would have won the match: Selwood just missing out 70-72.
A disastrous S.C.L. game away to Frome Park A saw Selwood lose on all rinks 44-68.
And in the Turnbull Cup after a decent run, Selwood finally succumbed at home to Purnells 71-90, the only winning rink being C. Webb, G. Atkinson, J. Jones, M. Mason 23-17.
A mixed friendly at Avon saw Selwood win on all rinks 79-55. Scores:- Sandra Dowie, Jean Lemon, Percy Reynolds, Nigel Fricker 21-11; Ken Matthews, Susan Simenton, Graham Atkinson, Mike Geake 21-13; Margaret Reynolds, John Crondel (an Avon member), Kathy Kingman, Peter Simenton 22-19; Judy Matthews, Tony Lemon and David James 15-12, the only triple rink.
Selwood welcomed Trowbridge Town for a return friendly mixed triples, the home side winning 60-49. Best rinks:- Bob Norris, Bev Tymus, David James 20-11; Chris Mitchell, Susan Simenton, Percy Reynolds 14-13.
In the last report, it was reported that Selwood’s National Men’s 4s side lost at Taunton, which should have been Street.
