In December Frome SODA (Society of Disabled Artists) held their annual Christmas tea for members, volunteers and honoured guests.
Marjorie Morris, Secretary, Frome SODA reports, “Our President, Mrs Angela Yeoman, O.B.E., Councillor Richard Ackroyd, Mayor of Frome and Councillor Mark Dorrington, Deputy Mayor, joined members and volunteers to enjoy the splendid spread provided by Frome Country Market.
“As usual the meal was interrupted by a seasonal quiz and, as ever, there were complaints that it was too hard. As, however, two of the competing pairs gained 17/20, resulting in a tie-break question, the Secretary once again ignored the complaints. The eventual winners, through shouting out the tie-break answer, were Suzanne Cooke and Clive Irvine-Gizzie .
“A raffle with a vast number of prizes, contributed by members and guests, ended with all present going home with at least one prize – odd how that always happens!
“Frome SODA has had good year, with a full (slightly over-full) membership and a growing waiting list. During the Frome Festival they held their annual exhibition, which this time was more successful than ever, despite the blazing hot weather which could have made it challenging for visitors to climb the hill to St John’s Church. At the end the Treasurer, Nick Treacy, pronounced he was more than happy.
“The group is grateful for the continuing local support, from the Town Council, the Lions, the Woodlanders and from the many volunteers who steward for the exhibition and in other ways ensure the smooth running of the group.
