The Frome Symphony Orchestra’s new season starts next month, with rehearsals now in full swing.
The orchestra, together with music director Mark Gateshill, will be bringing six performances to music lovers in Frome. This season promises a variety of musical experiences, including classical favourites, songs from the shows and family-friendly concerts.
On Saturday 15th November at Holy Trinity Church, the orchestra presents Dvořák’s ever-popular Symphony No. 9 (“From the New World”), alongside Sibelius’s En Saga and the Grøndahl Trombone Concerto, featuring the young soloist Morgan Bland.
This is followed by a festive treat on Sunday 14th December, with two performances of the beloved children’s Christmas classic The Snowman at 3pm and 4.30pm, ideal for families and children to enjoy a magical musical journey.
Next year, the events will run on 7th February with Brahms, Schubert and Mozart tunes, and on 29th March featuring favourite tunes from musical theatre. The orchestra will also give its annual performance during Frome Festival in July.
Frome Symphony is a registered charity run by volunteers, dedicated to bringing high-quality live orchestral music to the local community. The orchestra provides opportunities for amateur musicians to rehearse and perform major works, supports young soloists and fosters a love of classical music across all ages through its inclusive, community-focused concerts.
Tickets for the November and December performances are on sale now from the orchestra’s website www.fromesymphony.org.uk.
