Frome Symphony, with conductor Mark Gateshill, will perform in the Cheese and Grain on Sunday 14th May at 7.30pm. The orchestra will be joined by the brilliant Lukas Hank, back as soloist in the violin concerto by Beethoven.
A regular soloist with the orchestra, Lukas’s career has gone from strength to strength, and he is now a member of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
One of Beethoven’s most popular pieces, the concerto is a tour de force for the soloist and orchestra alike.
In the second half of the concert, the orchestra performs Dvořák’s 7th symphony. Although not performed as frequently as the New World symphony, the 7th is arguably Dvořák’s finest work incorporating beautiful melodies and engaging dance tunes from 19th century Bohemia.
A recent Frome Symphony performance was described by a well-known living composer as “on a par with those of professional orchestras”, and the audience can expect an evening of exciting, high-quality classical music.
Tickets are £12 (adult), £5 (under 18) from the Cheese and Grain box office.
