A Frome teenager has released her second song after recording in Los Angeles with a major record label.
Erin Ross-Osborne, also known as Erin Rose, released her new single ‘Wild Fire’ following a trip to LA to work with the label, Def Jam Recordings, which is owned by Universal Music Group.
Erin, who turns 18 in a few weeks, is studying for her A-Levels at Frome College. Her first single was released in 2024 after a video of her singing posted by her mum on TikTok drew interest from record executives, leading to a trip to Los Angeles for recording sessions.
‘Wild Fire’ was released on 24th January, and with one more song yet to come out, the label will monitor the interest and streaming numbers to decide whether to sign her.
“I am excited but also nervous because I don’t know what people’s opinions are going to be, but I am excited to find out,” said Erin.
“I worked with the producers to write it but it was definitely a lot from me. It is very busy and sometimes a little bit stressful but I enjoy it. It means I have something other than just school that I get to be excited about.”
During her trip, Erin also worked with the label to develop a new style.
She said, “It was a 50/50 because I already knew what they were looking for and doing all the musical theatre I do outside of school anyway, I am used to wearing different styles and doing different characters.”
Erin’s mum, Kris, said her daughter has ‘got her feet firmly on the ground’ after recently being accepted to study biomedicine at the University of Hull.
“Most kids dream of this. If it happens, it happens, if it doesn’t it doesn’t, she has big plans anyway,” she said.
Erin Rose’s new single is available on all platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music.
