THE Frome Thursday Club is a social group for those aged 50 and over.
They hold a monthly afternoon meeting in the Christchurch Hall on Park Road and are always looking for new people to join.
Ann Martin, a member of the committee said, “Afternoons can be so dreary so it’s nice for people who would ordinarily be on their own to get out and do something different. This is not to say that couples are not also very welcome.
“We always try and have a variety of things planned; coach trips, guest speakers and lighthearted quizzes to name a few.”
They have had successful coach trips to various seasides towns including Weymouth and Weston-super-Mare.
“We make a collective decision as to where we are going to go on our trips and we always have a lovely time, continued Ann. “There is such a friendly and cheerful atmosphere. Our ethos is social inclusion and friendship, I have most certainly made friends. I am so very proud to be a member of the committee. They are fantastic.
“The club offers so much. We have 35-40 active members but we love having new people join us. We will be celebrating our 25th anniversary in June at our venue on Park Road which we are very much looking forward to.”
