AFTER such long periods of poor weather a welcome sunny afternoon saw Frome Town’s improvement continue under Adrian Foster with a goalless draw against Biggleswade in a game that saw little in the way of any clear cut chances.
Biggleswade forced a number of early corners which Frome dealt with comfortably before a long throw was flicked on by Steven Gentle but Sam Reeds header was straight at Frome ‘keeper Darren Chitty.
Frome’s first chance arrived on 21 minutes as Jon Vance tried his luck from distance but Ian Brown was equal to the effort and then on the half hour as Vance’s left wing cross was headed wide by Ricky Hulbert.
Craig Daniel found the side netting for the visitors before Chitty did well to save from Alex Witham.
In the second half Ben Thomson fired a shot over the bar from the re-start and then the same player took on three players only to have his shot blocked.
Chitty was called into action to deny substitute Jon Woolf on 58 minutes after being set-up well by Sam Reed before the best chance of the game arrived on 64 minutes as Hulbert did well to hold the ball up, rolled it onto Thomson who appeared to be brought down in the area and with the penalty appeals being waived away the ball fell to Kris Miller whose effort thundered off of the post and to safety.
Frome ‘skipper Josh Ford had a golden chance to break the deadlock as he found himself with time and space in the area but he took too long and his effort was deflected over the bar and from the resulting corner Evan Key’s defending header cleared his own bar.
On 80 minutes Chitty did superbly to save a long range strike from Daniel but it was Frome who would go closest at the end of the game to snatching the win as Miller’s long range free-kick thundered off the crossbar.
