THE second round of Frome Town Council’s Community Grants were recently awarded.
Councillor Peter Macfadyen, chair of external affairs committee said, “We are delighted that a high standard of applications has continued to be received, reflecting the strength of community organisations in Frome. The council increased funds available by 50% for this year – by far the largest allocation in the District – because we believe that groups like these provide high quality services, reaching across the community.”
To date Frome Town Council has received over 65 grant applications and is pleased to be able to support the following groups who were successful in meeting the community grants scheme criteria.
• Positive Action on Cancer – Frome Volunteer Development Programme – £2,500
• Merlin Theatre Trust Ltd. – supporting core costs – £5,000
• Mendip Community Transport – particularly the hospital car service – £1,000
• The Mount Community Association – holiday coach trips – £1,200
• Frome Day Centre/Active Living – art projects – £800
• Home In Frome – banners, processions and book launch – £2,350
• Rook Lane Arts Trust Ltd. – The Royal Photographic Society 155th International Print Exhibition and accompanying community events – £2,500
• Frome Memorial Theatre Trust – new assembly rooms P.A. system plus Memorial Theatre seat replacement campaign – £3,000
• Frome Running Club – Junior Athletics Section – various equipment £694.56
In addition small grants totalling £2,021 were awarded to Frome Town Football Club, Frome Canoe Club, Mendip Community Speedwatch, Frome Town Sports FC, Frome Stroke Club, Gateway Club, Frome ATC, and Frome Day Centre.
