Eight intrepid members of Frome Town Rotary took part in the Monmouth Raft Race organised by the Rotary Club of Monmouth on Sunday 1st September.
Having built a raft they had to paddle six miles along the Wye river with 70 other rafts. As with everything Frome Town Rotary does, there was much fun and laughter. The raft completed the race despite a couple of groundings, and with rapids and some large rocks to avoid.
Frome Town Rotary came 5th overall, third in the mixed team category and won the award for the fastest Rotary team.
“Full credit to Monmouth Rotary as it was a very enjoyable and very well organised event that raised considerable funds for the St David’s Hospice and other local charities,” says the Frome club.
“Frome Town Rotary is a new and innovative kind of Rotary Club. We welcome anyone who wants to be part of an active social group whilst being prepared to help charities and good causes locally and overseas.
“We meet on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. We try and ensure that the cost of membership and activities are kept affordable. “
