Frome has reason to celebrate with 19 local businesses being chosen as finalists in the 2018 Somerset Muddy Stilettos Awards and six coming away victorious.
The awards champion exceptional independent lifestyle businesses in Somerset and the 24 categories include vibrant art galleries, inspiring venues, brilliant bookshops, unique jewellery and outstanding restaurants. Frome received nominations in 15 of the categories.
The winners included: Black Swan Arts – Best Art Gallery; The Frome Independent – Best Family Attraction; SEED – Best Gift Shop; Eleanor Christine Jewellery – Best Jeweller: The Cheese and Grain – Best Theatre/Arts Venue; Settlers Stores – Best Women’s Store.
The Runners Up included: Kobi & Teal – Best Interiors Store; Figgins – Best Gift Shop; Bramble & Wild – Best Florist; Whiterow Farm – Best Farm Shop/Deli; Music for Miniatures – Best Children’s Business; Hunting Raven Books – Best Bookshop; Fat Radish – Best Bar.
Other nominations included: Palmer Street Bottle for Best Bar; Lis Caldognetto Bridal for Best Beauty Salon; Music for Miniatures for Best Children’s Business; Melanie Giles and The Secret Salon for Best Hair Salon; Tom McEwan for Best Jeweller; The High Pavement for Best Restuarant and Focus Pilates for Best Yoga/Pilates.
Nominations and voting is done by members of the public, so they really are a good reflection of people’s experiences and local businesses get the recognition they deserve. Voting closed on Friday 18th May, with winners revealed on Monday 21st May.
