FOLLOWING the success of its first Small Publishers’ Fair, Frome Writers’ Collective is to stage a second one this year.
The event will take place at Frome’s Silk Mill centre on Saturday 8th July and, as with last year’s event, it will complement the already strong literary content of the Somerset market town’s annual Festival programme.
A number of specialist publishers from around the South West will be sharing space at the fair, alongside companies which provide support and services for budding authors, giving local writers the chance to meet and talk to those who may help them get their work published.
And prominent among them will be Frome Writers’ Collective’s own book brand, Silver Crow Books. Silver Crow, formed to provide FWC members with a stepping stone on the journey to getting published, offers authors whose submissions are accepted a range of advice, guidance, a cost-effective manuscript assessment service, links and discounts with preferred publishing partners and joint marketing opportunities.
Believed to be unique in the way it offers a friendly alternative to the often-daunting task of producing and promoting a book in isolation, Silver Crow has already helped two FWC members have their books professionally published, with a third due for release days before the Small Publishers’ Fair opens.
There will also be a stall where FWC members who have gone down other publication routes will have copies of their books on sale, while book lovers will be able to browse through the wide range of specialist and non-specialist titles the publishers exhibiting will have on show.
FWC’s Debs Dowling said, “Once again the Small Publishers’ Fair is a sell-out, reflecting the enthusiasm which local writers have to see their work in print. It also underlines the popularity of the writer-targeted elements of the Frome Festival programme, which includes the very popular Writers in Residence competition also organised by Frome Writers’ Collective.”
Entry to the fair is free. For information about the FWC visit fromewriterscollective.co.uk or the Frome Writers Collective Facebook page. More information about the fair is on the Frome Small Publishers Fair website, fromesmallpublishersfair.co.uk
