A Frome football club has reached its fundraising goal – thanks to a boost in funds from a regional housebuilder.
Frome Town Youth Football Club has received £1,000 from Persimmon Homes Wessex to purchase much-needed new goal posts for its under 9s football team.
The team has been selected as one of Persimmon Homes’ community champions, receiving the funding as the latest winner of the community campaign. The project sees a pot of £24,000 donated to local groups and charities, who can apply for funding each month.
Scott Daniels, team manager said, “Football plays a big part in these children’s lives and we strive to make it enjoyable, as well as a way of keeping fit. Thanks to Persimmon, our boys will have brand-new goal posts, which we so desperately need, helping our young players reach their full potential.”
Pauline Fletcher, sales and marketing director at Persimmon Homes Wessex said, “We are delighted to select Frome Town’s under 9s as part of our Community Champions initiative. Any football club is a big part of the community and it’s fantastic to see children start playing so young and progress through the teams.
“Persimmon Homes Wessex has had a fantastic response to its Community Champions scheme and it is always a difficult task to pick our winners each month. If applicants were unsuccessful last month, we urge them to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again and hopefully they will become our next Community Champion.”
