Publisher Fahrenheit Press launched Ally Rose’s latest book, ‘The River Runs Red’ , to coincide with her interview on FromeFM’s on-air book group, on Friday 20th July.
The latest book follows on, but does not rely on, her two previous novels, all with the protagonist Hanne Drais. Her first novel “Hidden Depths” was described as “An impressive debut with shades of Val McDermid and Stieg Larsson…”.
Ally has always been interested in writing crime stories and with the Cold War era, as there is a rich tapestry to draw from; especially the notorious and quelling Stasi reign in East Germany. The fall of the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain, gives a contrast between the different worlds and any past crimes are held to account in a unified Germany. Her books are available to buy on www.fahrenheit-press.com/authors_ally_rose.html
The on-air book group is broadcast every four weeks on FromeFM, the local community radio on 96.6FM and online at http://frome.fm and presented by Helen Ottaway, Karen Stewart and Sheila Hedges. Like any other book group they talk, if not about the book itself, then the various ideas that came to mind when reading. A guest comes to talk about a range of subjects – a new book, the library, book shop, a special literary project. There is also a round-up of local literary news, and the team are keen to promote the Royal Voluntary Service and their home delivery service for people unable to visit a library. Listeners can join in by sending in news of their reading group, or mailing comments about the books under discussion to books@frome.fm
The programmes are available to listen again on http://frome.fm/pro grammes/ talk/on-air-book-group/ where you can find the programme about Ally Rose and earlier ones too. FromeFM is always on the lookout for new members, and you can find more details on the website http://frome.fm
