The people of Frome are being urged to take to the streets in a huge community clean up initiative on Saturday 23rd November.
Frome Town Council aims to make Frome spotless and has targetted various parts of the town which they believe could benefit from a tidy up. With that in mind the council are taking to the streets with the support of the community and local businesses.
Critchill School have kindly agreed to support the Frome big clean up by adopting ‘Nunney Road’ as part of their effort and plan to continuously monitor the cleanliness of this street as an ongoing project.
Head teacher Mark Armstrong said, “All schools are a key part of the community and we want to give something back. Adopting Nunney Road is one way of doing this. Our young people will be out from now on keeping it looking smart.”
Peter Macfadyen, Independent Mayor of Frome says, “It would be brilliant if all the schools in Frome adopted a road to keep clean, I’m sure those living nearby would lend a hand too. In fact wouldn’t it be great if all shopkeepers (and not just one or two), pubs, banks and traders of the town swept their bit of the pavement every morning.”
“My aim is for Frome to be spotless and we’re only going to do this by everyone pulling together. So, come on everyone, all the businesses and the people that live in our great town, grab a bin bag and join the fun, If we all work together as a community, we can make a huge difference to life in Frome”.
Please put on your wellies, grab a bag and join them at 10am on Sunday 23rd November. Free tea and cake will be provided and by working together, the whole town will be looking ship shape in time for The Christmas Extravaganza.
