The Frome Times ‘Cutest Pet’ competition has been won by a hamster called Artie Fluffkin,
Hundreds of votes were received in the special competition organised to celebrate National Pet Month, which aims to raise awareness of responsible pet ownership and encourage fundraising for the nation’s needy pets.
102 pets in Frome battled it out to be crowned the ‘cutest’ but it was Artie Fluffkin, owned by Sascha Stevens, who stole the hearts of Frome Times’ readers.
“I’m shocked and surprised to have won and very very happy,” said Sascha. “Artie can’t wait to play with all his new toys and tasty treats.”
For winning, Artie Fluffkin and his owner Sascha were presented with a special pet hamper kindly donated by Not Just Pets in Frome.
Sascha said, “Coincidentally, I bought him from Not Just Pets in Frome! He choose me, he came up to me and I knew he was the one.”
One of the owners of Not Just Pets, Mike Tozer said, “It’s quite unusual that a hamster has won a competition like this; it’s normally the cats or dogs that triumph. But I think that it is fantastic that a hamster has won – and it’s fantastic that Sascha found Artie Fluffkin right here at Not Just Pets.
“Hopefully Artie Fluffkin will enjoy everything in the hamper that we have pit together for him.
“This has been a fantastic competition, everyone at Not Just Pets have really enjoyed being involved!”
