DAVID Warburton, the Conservatives’ prospective Member of Parliament for Somerton and Frome, took part in a 10 mile walk to raise money for Happy Landings Animal Shelter in Pylle on Sunday 19th May.
Founded in 1995, Happy Landings provides care, shelter and veterinary attention for stray, abandoned and neglected animals. Together with Diesel, his three-year-old German Shepherd, David joined the sponsored ten mile walk which started at Glastonbury Tor and finished at Pylle village hall.
David said, “Happy Landings is a much-loved part of the local community and a very important facility for animals in need. Diesel knows the team there very well indeed and we both know they work extremely hard all year round to provide the best possible care for animals. Diesel and I were delighted to support them.”
Based on a five acre site near Pylle, Happy Landings accommodates approximately 300 domestic and farm animals, and re-homes about 300 animals a year plus several hundred ex-battery hens. Happy Landings works with dog wardens, vets, police, social services and other shelters. Patrons of the charity include Valerie Singleton OBE, Philippa Forrester and Bel Mooney.
