A FROME schoolboy from Oakfield Academy who was crowned the winner of the Royal Mail’s 2017 Christmas Stamp Design Competition is scheduled to appear on Good Morning Britain next month.
11-year old Ted Lewis-Clark’s design ‘Santa Claus on his sleigh on a starry night’ was chosen by the Prince of Wales to be the 1st class Christmas stamp for 2017. As well as hopefully appearing on national television, Ted will also meet Prince Charles at Clarence House in London to collect his prize of £1,000 in vouchers and £1,000 for his school, Oakfield Academy.
“I am really looking forward to seeing Clarence House, I have heard that it is spectacular,” said Ted. “I am going with mum and dad, I think we will be going on the train and might even stay up there for the night, it would be great to see some of the sights in London”
Ted’s design was picked from over 200,000 entries from children across the UK. About the inspiration behind his drawing Ted said, “I was just thinking of Christmas and all the delivering Father Christmas has to do, I also drew a glass of milk in his hand, because lots of children leave a drink out for him on Christmas Eve”.
Ted’s appearance on Good Morning Britain is planned for Thursday 26th October, the day before he meets Prince Charles. Ted’s Christmas stamp will be on sale from Tuesday 7th November.
