FROME Town United FC (FTUFC) have had matches cancelled recently due to poor weather, but are now getting back to form.
The club says, “The club’s centre and home pitches are at the old Frome town golf course on the Nunney road. Due to the amount of teams and matches that we play, we also play at Mells, Selwood Academy, amongst other pitches around the area.
“In the past weeks due to bad weather, many of our matches have been cancelled. However, with the Christmas break over, Frome Town United U10 Hawks played away to Bath Arsenal. Frome played lovely football and were rewarded to go 1 – 0 up, second quarter Bath equalised and with Frome hitting back to make it 2 – 1, again Bath came back again. By the third quarter, the game came back to Frome, making it 3 –2, and then crowned the victory by scoring with three minutes to go, to take the game at 4 – 2. Players from both teams put in outstanding performances.
“Frome U13 girls played Melksham Town U13s; this game was very tight in the first half, but Melksham took the lead, going 2 – up. Frome threw everything at Melksham, hitting the post and the crossbar and with the goalkeeper pulling off some great saves, it frustrated Frome. Although Frome eventually hit back, Melksham came out winners 7 – 2.
“It must be said many thanks to Kerry and Dan Ashby, coupled with support from Kelly, managed to hold a last-minute children’s party just prior to Christmas, and the amazing achievement managed to raise over £530, providing much-needed funds for FTUFC.”
