VOLUNTEERS and representatives from the churches in Frome will be raising money for Christian Aid this month.
Christian Aid co-ordinator for Frome Area Christians Together, Jean Fraser says, “‘All mums should live’ is the theme for Christian Aid’s nationwide appeal this year.
“In our area we have wonderful birthing units at Frome, the R.U.H. and Bristol hospitals. But this is not the case in places like Sierra Leone, Africa, where mothers and babies are dying due to lack of medical facilities.
“Members from the churches and community will be collecting in the town, villages and churches from Sunday 12th – Saturday 18th May.
“Sometimes we watch the television or look at our newspaper and see the problems and tragedies in the world and wonder how we can help. Christian Aid is making a difference and uses the money raised efficiently and wisely. Please give this your help and support.
“Last year the theme for Christian Aid was ‘together we are stronger than the storms’. The people of Haiti received enormous help and support thanks to the generosity and time given by others, after their terrible hurricane in 2017.
“In the Frome area with a coffee morning and town, village and church collections we raised £6,063.97. £8million was raised nationwide and 57,000 people happily gave of their time for others.”
