THREE supporters of the local charity We Hear You (WHY) are hosting a jumble sale on Saturday 29th April at Frome Cricket Club from 10am to 12.30pm. The sale is part of the trio’s fundraising ahead of the 24 Peaks Challenge in the Lake District this September.
The challenge sees participants climb to the top of 24 hills in the Lake District, including Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England and one of the famous ‘Three Peaks’. The challenge takes place over two 12-hour days and covers around 28 miles and an ascent of 12,500 feet.
Alice Starr, fitness consultant and participant said, “Our team for the Three Peaks challenge in 2019 ran a jumble sale and it was a hit, so we’re hoping for another great fundraiser for WHY. Come along to the cricket club on Saturday 29th April and browse clothes, books, toys and games at bargain prices, for a great cause.
“There will also be refreshments available to buy, and all proceeds help WHY do their fantastic work with people affected by cancer. I’m taking on this challenge with Kym and Lyndsay from our Three Peaks team; we did three peaks, how hard can 24 be?”
Helen White, WHY fundraising officer, added, “Alice Starr does so much for WHY, both in terms of raising the money we need to provide our services and helping to raise awareness about what we do in the community. We’re especially delighted that our founder Jill Miller’s daughter Kym is joining Alice once again for this truly tough challenge and we wish them all the luck and Deep Heat in the world!
“Jumbles have been a bit of the theme of WHY fundraising since last autumn and they go down incredibly well, so fingers crossed for a fantastic total for the team and for WHY. Thanks once again to our friends at Frome Cricket Club for donating the venue.”
