FROME Twinning Association, together with Frome Carnival committee, played host to a delegation from our twin town of Murrhardt last weekend.
The group were members of the Murrhardt Carnival Committee and visited Frome for the weekend to experience our Carnival celebrations. This is another new link between local organisations, many of whom have informal links with our twin towns.
Sixteen people from Murrhardt met with Mayor, cllr Sheila Gore, members of the Carnival committee and the Carnival ambassadors on the Friday evening, before visiting both the children’s parade in the afternoon, and the full evening parade. They thoroughly enjoyed their visit and the chance to experience a West Country Carnival, which is very different from their own Carnival festivities. They also had the chance to enjoy a tea in the town hall and meet town council staff.
An invitation was issued for Frome Carnival Committee to visit Murrhardt for their Carnival in February, and the twinning association hopes this will be the start of another fruitful partnership between groups in our towns.
