As part of BBC’s Get Creative Day, artists Fiona Campbell, Linda Sandeman, Yasemin Sweet, Alexander Langford and Lila Streether will be offering 20-minute drop-in taster workshops at the Black Swan Art Centre, Frome from 2-4pm on Saturday 2nd April. Black Swan Arts and Somerset Art Works have joined forces to offer this event for free! Come along and get creative!
The centre says, “Fiona will be based in the main gallery running a wire workshop, where all ages from 8 years to adult will have a chance to explore 2-d and 3-d techniques in wire and create a small colourful sculpture.
“Want to know how filigree jewellery is made and how 24ct gold leaf can be bonded to silver? Linda and Yasemin will be demonstrating both traditional jewellery techniques in their friendly informal studio on the ground floor. You can even have a go yourself.
“Alexander makes bas- reliefs of people, horses and angels. He casts them in a plaster/acrylic compound using silicon moulds. Come and make a cast of a cherub or an angel and take it home.
Lila will be painting in Studio 1. If you would like to ‘have a go’ at basic painting techniques, she will supply paper and paints.
“Led by the BBC, Get Creative is a year-long celebration of British arts, culture and creativity. Get Creative Day on Saturday 2nd April is for everyone to try something, make something and get creative!”
