Edventure’s Future Shed has a variety of interesting events coming up this Autumn, including outdoor skills, community garden learning sessions, a pop-up canteen and a sustainable fashion week hub.
Future Shed lead, Sue Palmer, said, “We support groups and organisations in Frome who provide opportunities to get involved in community-led activities that make a difference to us and the planet and have lots of interesting events coming up.
“Everyone Needs Pockets is hosting a sustainable fashion week hub for a second year. Frome joins nearly 20 other hubs across the UK to raise awareness of the impact of fast fashion and what we can do about it. Join talks, workshops, mending sessions and sustainable fashion events, many of which are free, running through the week from Friday 20th to Sunday 29th September.
“The community fibre project, Sewing the Seeds, is also involved, inspiring people to learn about the uses and history of flax, nettles and natural materials.
“Back to Nature continues to run events for women in outdoor skills and nature connection through September, and Super Roots are planning their green and healthy play toolkit for, and with, young people. The Frome Food Network is going to be running a pop-up ‘canteen’, serving delicious and locally sourced food which is affordable and open to all, inspired by the Long Table in Stroud, starting late October.
“Frome Seed Library continues its learning sessions and running sessions in community gardens and has a call out for any seed donations. All varieties (except F1) are welcome at the Seed Library donation box in Frome Library.
“Are you concerned about climate change but don’t know what to do about it? Or do you have a project, idea or enterprise that has a green and wellbeing connection? Future Shed is here for you!
“People who are part of our Future Shed networks tell us that they feel more informed and more able to make sustainable choices in their lives. And that they feel more confident and less worried as a result of getting involved in community-led action.
“We are all about connection and making a difference. We offer practical support to green and healthy initiatives and enterprises through building networks, supporting projects and connecting people. We provide free coaching and training for people wanting to connect to sustainability and wellbeing.”
