THE Little Bears Wardrobe (TLBW) is challenging how we buy and use organic clothing for children.
Started by founder Holly Melton with a bin bag of her son’s old clothes (the ‘little bear’ from the shop name) during lockdown, it has fast become the place for those in the know to buy and sell sustainable kids’ clothes
As well as stocking a selected range of new organic clothing from top brands such as Little Green Radicals, The Bonnie Mob and Turtledove London from the UK, they also look further afield to international brands like Alba of Denmark, Müsli, Raspberry Republic and Paapii. All are carefully chosen by founder Holly to align with her shop values.
TLBW says what makes them different is their huge second-hand section, which is at the core of TLBW philosophy.
Customers can bring in their preloved organic clothing and it will be sold on their behalf for either cash or store credit. There is a huge section on their website, as well as a dedicated section in their Frome store.
“It is really important to me that clothes go back into circulation and are saved from landfill,” says Holly, “and exchanging old clothes for credit means that organic brands become more affordable for everyone.
“We take clothing in any condition and it is resold individually if it’s in good condition. We also offer a pick and mix selection for less than perfect items which can be used for nursery and messy play.
“Once an item reaches the end of its useable life it will be made in to scrunchies or bibs etc. Nothing is wasted here!”
