Local charity, Positive Action on Cancer (PAC) is preparing for another Mad March!
After the huge success of the community fundraising month last year, PAC is inviting the community to get involved once more.
Last year saw the first ‘Mad March’ campaign, where the community was invited to take part in fundraising activities for PAC, throughout the month. It saw people hold Mad-hatter tea parties, cake sales, mufti days, quiz nights, fancy dress parties, coffee mornings, run half marathons, jump out of planes and a whole array of other fun ways to raise money for the Frome-based charity; together these events raised over £40,000.
Assistant fundraiser Helen Sprawson-White said, “Last year’s Mad March was simply incredible, we were completely overwhelmed by the generosity and support from our community!
“Everyone from individuals, businesses, schools, pubs and community groups got involved and supported PAC in the most successful month in its 21 year history. This year we are hoping to make it even bigger and better, with even more people involved.
“We have seen an unprecedented demand for our free, professional counselling service this year, referrals are up by around 17%. The emotional support available to children and adults affected by cancer and other life-threatening conditions comes at a direct cost of £33 a session.
“We do not receive any central government funding and so rely entirely on the support of our communities, trusts and grants. So this fundraising really does make a huge difference to us and our ability to reach those that need our help in the local community.”
Mad March will also see the return of PAC’s hugely successful online auction, which last year included something for everyone on every budget and raised over £4,600. PAC is currently seeking prizes for the 2016 Mad March Auction and if you are able to donate something, do contact the fundraising team.
There are also still a few spaces available on the PAC skydive scheduled for Saturday 19th March and on the Bath Half Marathon team which is taking place on Sunday 13th March.
