MARTIN Dimery has been confirmed as the Green Party candidate for the new Frome and East Somerset constituency at the next General Election.
“I am delighted to have been selected by Green Party members to stand as the Parliamentary candidate for the new Frome and East Somerset constituency in the forthcoming General Election,” said Martin.
“The new constituency promises to be a much more representative area than Somerton and Frome, which was much too large geographically, incorporating communities with little in common. Frome’s ties with Midsomer Norton, Radstock and the surrounding countryside are far stronger. We share schools and colleges, health services, public transport, work and social connections. Politically, it will be an open race and with our strength in Frome, which is the largest town, the Green Party expects to do well.”
Martin, who is also a Somerset Council councillor, stood at the recent Somerton and Frome by-election and finished in third place behind the Conservative candidate, Faye Purbrick, and the winner and current MP for Somerton and Frome, Sarah Dyke. The next general election will be held no later than 28th January 2025.
