FROME has its first successful Hearing Support Cafe which aims to bring people living with hearing problems together for advice, information and fellowship.
Health Connections Mendip, the organisation that helps individuals and groups get connected in order to help one another, is coming together with local hearing loss charities to encourage anyone experiencing hearing difficulties to come and share knowledge and advice about living with the condition.
Julie Carey-Downes, Health Connections Mendip explained, “About 20 people dropped in for the first Hearing Support Cafe and had the opportunity to make friends and talk to local charities that support people with hearing loss. The feedback from participants was very positive; one attendee said she had learnt more in an hour than in years of living with hearing loss. Together with other organisations we have also created a Hearing Support leaflet which lists the support that is available locally.”
The next informal meeting will take place at the Frome Medical Practice, Enos Way, Frome BA11 2FH on Thursday 12th October from 9.30am until 11.30am. Tea and biscuits will be provided. Drop in for a quick coffee or for the whole two hours.
