THE hunt is still on for people to take part in a world record attempt next month to raise money for Frome-based charity We Hear You (WHY).
Organised by local police sergeant, Rachel Clark and her brothers, Matthew and Daniel, participants will attempt to smash the Guinness World Record for the most amount of people to row 500m each, in a 24-hour relay on one indoor rowing machine. The current record, held in America, stands at 600 people.
Rachel said, “We’ve had a good solid response so far, nearly 160 registered, but plenty more needed.”
Ideally the siblings are looking for people who can row 500m in 2:10 minutes or less. Frome Leisure Centre is supporting the event and is allowing non-members who’ve signed up to the challenge to practise on their rowers in the lead up to the event.
The record attempt will take place from 4pm on Saturday 2nd June through to 4pm Sunday 3rd June, outside the library in the centre of Frome. Anyone interested in being part (over 16s only) are urged to contact the team via fromeworld recordrow@gmail.com
