Friends of the River Frome is asking people to get involved in helping to keep Frome’s river area tidy and shipshape for local people and visitors to enjoy the area.
Dorothy-Anne Bryant, who organises ‘Life begins at 70’ and a volunteer at Friends of the River Frome said, “For over 20 years, volunteers with Friends of the River Frome have tackled weeds and litter on the margins of the river in the centre of Frome, but the thousands of visitors to the Independent market provide a little extra for us to do.
“For this reason River Friends have started a monthly special push on the evening of the Monday after the market.
“Everyone is invited to come along to the steps of the Cheese and Grain from 4.30pm-6.00pm on 8th June. River Friends provide tools and expertise so that we can tackle slopes safely.
“We hope lots of people will come so that we can extend the good work up and down the river and tackle weeds as well as litter. Please wear gloves and suitable footwear.”
