A volunteer group supporting Frome Community Hospital has funded the purchase of vital equipment.
The Friends of Frome Hospital has funded a new slit lamp for the Urgent Treatment Centre, a vital piece of equipment for diagnosing and treating a range of eye conditions. It allows practitioners to examine the eye in detail and carry out treatment where required.
Clinical Lead Tracy Hill said, “We are very grateful to the Friends for providing this essential piece of equipment. They are a great support to our local hospital.”
The group has also recently made a donation to the birthing centre, enabling it to purchase new equipment including two cots, two reclining feeding chairs, a birthing couch, an air tube and an electric hospital-grade breast pump.
The new equipment has saved the departments more than £20,000.
Anyone who would like to help raise funds for the Friends, who also support the hospital by providing defibrillators and bleed kits across the town and surrounding villages, can contact them at friendsoffromehospital@gmail.com.
