FUTURE Shed Frome is working with members of the community to support ideas for a greener, healthier town into fruition via ideas events.
The first of these was held in partnership with Frome Town Council’s Resilience team in mid-September and was focused on how we can future-proof Frome’s local food network.
A spokesperson for Future Shed Frome said, “Over 40 people came along and ideas were shared for over 20 initiatives that could help Frome’s food supply become more sustainable, including making it easier to share local food gluts, opening a community supermarket and introducing ‘unfairly traded’ labels. Many of the ideas were volunteered by people keen to take the idea forwards.
“Future Shed Frome will be supporting people to turn their ideas into real change over the coming 18 months by offering free coaching, co-working and meeting space, support to grow teams and to make connections. We’ll also be hosting monthly ideas events on different themes.”
Tickets to forthcoming events are available now via https://edventurefrome.org/courses/short-courses/.
Edventure Frome and Future Shed Frome’s next event is all about setting up a circular economy or re-use business, to be held on Tuesday 19th October at 9:30.
Organisers say, “ We’ll get inspiration from Ben Moss, co-founder of the Bristol Wood Recycling project and a network of reuse organisations in Bristol and also from Kate Taylor-Smith, co-founder of Frow Resource, a project seeking to transform a former tip into a recycling centre in Forest Row. Peter Macfadyen will also join the panel, sharing recent experiences as co-founder of Loop Frome – our local community composting social enterprise.
“Attendees can bring ideas – whatever their stage – and get advice on how to develop them further. After the event, you can also take up a series of free one-to-one coaching sessions, helping turn your ideas into action. We also welcome anyone who simply wants to understand circular economies better, get inspired, contribute to a shared vision for a less wasteful economy in Frome or make connections with others. Tickets are free for all Somerset residents thanks to funding from Somerset Skills and Learning. Book via https://edventurefrome.org/courses/short-courses/
“Check out Edventure’s other short courses which are currently open for bookings, such as Facilitation Skills (November 9th), Making Growing/Farming into a Business with Vallis Veg (November 30th) or Good Business Bootcamp (January 11th).
