President Yvonne Covill of the Inner Wheel Club of Frome welcomed 60 members from different Inner Wheel Clubs in Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset for lunch on Thursday 24th March at Beckington Village Hall.
After a delicious meal, prepared and cooked by the members, Yvonne then introduced the guest speaker Glyn Carpenter from The Woodlanders Music Hall group, who gave a fascinating talk on his career as a PA to many top civil servants and their departments, and he compared it to the TV programme ‘Yes Minister’ which I am sure the programme was based on.
Judy Bateson was asked to give a vote of thanks, then President Yvonne introduced District Chairman Carol Price who thanked Frome on behalf of all the guests for a delightful afternoon.
Yvonne then went on to thank the Club Services Committee led by Barbara Sellar who had organised the lunch which was enjoyed by everyone, she also thanked the nine Frome Rotarians who had helped serve the meals and wash up afterwards.
The afternoon was huge success and many of the clubs who attended were very complimentary on the well organised day.
