Police are appealing for witnesses after an 81-year-old man was the victim of an attempted burglary at his home in Frome on the evening of Monday 5th October.
The incident happened at 5.25pm at his home near Marston Road.
A man knocked at the victim’s door claiming he needed to check the water pressure. While inside, the victim noticed a second man who had entered his lounge. After a struggle, the victim was knocked to the ground, but did not suffer any serious injuries. The two offenders ran off along Marston Road towards Frome town centre. Nothing was stolen in the incident.
The first man who knocked at the victim’s door is described as a white man, possibly with a slightly dark complexion, aged between 30 and 35-years-old. He was about 5ft 7 inches tall with short, straight, black hair. He was clean-shaven and stocky in build. He spoke with a foreign accent. He was wearing a dark jacket, possibly a suit jacket, and dark trousers.
The second man is described as younger, aged between 20 and 25-years-old. He was white, about 5ft 10 inches tall, and very thin. He was wearing a dark-coloured hat with a small peak and dark clothing.

Police advice to anyone who receives an unexpected visitor at their door is never to let them in unless completely satisfied that they are genuine. Genuine callers will not mind waiting outside your home while you check their identity with the company they claim to be waiting for. In the case of anyone claiming to work for a water company, it is very unusual for them to require access inside a home without making an appointment beforehand.
