For the second year running a Frome teenager has been crowned as the Wessex Carnival Queen.
Frome Community College student, Rebecca Milner, beat off competition from across the region to be named as this year’s Wessex Carnival Queen at a competition in Castle Cary last month.
The 17-year-old who is Frome Carnival Queen attendant, will be stepping into the shoes of last year’s winner, Emma Viner, also from Frome.
Despite having a broken arm, Rebecca impressed members of the public, beating six other entrants to win the competition through a public vote.
June Barnes, chair of the Frome Carnival committee said she was proud of Rebecca. She said, “It is fantastic that Rebecca will be representing Frome as the Wessex Carnival Queen.
“She said on the night that she is looking forward to carrying out all of the duties.”
This year’s runner-up for the Wessex Carnival Queen title was Fiona Easton, who is also from Frome.
