David Heath will continue to represent the people of Frome, having been re-elected in the general election on May 6th.
The Liberal Democrat politician, who has been MP for the area since 1997, was re-elected with a 47.4% share of the votes cast.
He received 28,793 votes, with Conservative candidate Annunziata Rees-Mogg receiving 26,976 votes, David Oakensen of Labour receiving 2,675 votes, UKIP’s Barry Harding receiving 1,932 votes, and Niall Warry of the Independent Leave-the-EU Alliance receiving 236 votes. The turnout was 74.3 per cent.
David is married and has two children. He lives at Witham Friary between Frome and Bruton.
David has previously taken on several major roles within parliament. In October 2008 he was chosen to lead a Liberal Democrat commission on privacy in the UK, and in January 2009 he was reappointed as spokesman on the office of the Leader of the House of Commons.
