More than 130 people will compete for a place on Mendip District Council at next month’s elections.
All of the council’s 47 seats will be up for grabs when voters go to the polls on 5th May, and 139 candidates have put their names forward as candidates. There are 47 Conservative candidates, 10 Green, 21 Labour, 44 Liberal Democrat, two UK Independence Party and 15 independents.

16 current Mendip District Councillors have decided not to stand.
Residents in Mendip will get their chance to vote when Mendip’s 129 polling stations open on 5th May between 7.00am and 10.00pm. Mendip District Council is currently made up of 23 Conservatives, 20 Liberal Demo-crats and 4 Independents.
Candidates have until noon on 7th April to withdraw their nominations.
