Ticket sales for the successful ‘Dinner with Nigella’ event at Babington House in February raised £8,000 of the overall total of £20,000 for Positive Action on Cancer.
Mary Taylor, director of PAC said, “We are extremely grateful to Babington House and to Nigella for their help in raising this money which will be used to maintain our vital counselling service for people affected by cancer. Small charities like PAC are struggling to survive in the current economic climate and every penny raised makes a difference to our clients.”
Nigella Lawson, celebrity cook, and Kirsty Young, presenter of Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, both enjoyed the glittering fundraising event earlier this year, with Kirsty Young interviewing Nigella about her food loves.
Mary continued, “Don-ated today was £8,000 from the Babington House event alone, but a total of £20,000 has been donated to PAC recently. There was a further £8,000 donated by auctioning off a villa in the Bahamas, £1,000 from table donations at the Babington house event, £1,000 from a raffle and £2,000 from a local supporter.”
