VENUES across Frome have a whole range of top notch entertainment lined up over the coming months. With the town constantly attracting top-name performers, the message is to get your tickets early for all future attractions.
From comedian Reginald D Hunter (Merlin Theatre September 18th), to music legend Joe Brown (Memorial Theatre October 14th) and pioneer of the ‘New Romantics’ music scene, Adam Ant (Cheese and Grain November 10th), there is sure to be something for everyone with a whole range of top class performers.
Comedy fans in Frome, who have already snapped up tickets, are in for a treat this weekend as Reginald D Hunter will perform a sold-out, up close and personal show at the Merlin Theatre.
On October 14th, the Memorial Theatre will host Rock and Roll legend, Joe Brown. Joe, along with his band is back at the theatre by popular demand in another two-hour musical celebration. In 2009, Joe received MOJO magazine’s coveted Outstanding Contribution To Music Award as well as an MBE. Tickets are £20 and are available by calling the box office on 01373 462795.
On the same day, comedy legend Phil Cool will be putting on a performance at the Merlin Theatre. His 1980s television shows have now obtained cult status, proof that his comedy is as contemporary, valid and hilarious today as it has ever been.
A stand-up chameleon, he is one minute George W Bush, the next Paul McCartney, then Bill Clinton and later Bugs Bunny! He will be performing from 7.45pm, with tickets costing £15 and available by calling 01373 465949.
90’s pop group Dodgy will grace the Cheese and Grain on the 21st of October. Since their reformation in 2008, the band have played at Guilfest, The Wickerman, Summer Sundae, Cornbury, a secret gig at The Truck Festival, a headline show at Beached in front of thousands on the beach in Scarborough, as well as BUGJAM, Whatfest, and The Purple Weekend in Northern Spain. Tickets are £15 in advance or £18 on the door.
To top it all off, there will be a rare opportunity to see Prince Charming himself as Adam Ant and The Good,The Mad and The Lovely Posse, play the Cheese and Grain on November 10th. In a career spanning more than 35 years, Adam Ant has had ten top 10 singles with his band Adam and the Ants and also as a solo artist with three reaching the number 1 position in the UK.
With hundreds of shows performed in the UK since 1977, Adam has also toured extensively throughout the United States, mainland Europe, Australia and Japan. Throughout the 80s and 90s Adam took up acting on the stage, TV and also film, whilst still writing and producing music. With eight albums behind him Adam has just completed two successful UK tours.
