IT’S panto time, and once again Frome Amateur Operatic Society is bringing a fabulous family performance to the people of Frome with the traditional pantomime ‘Aladdin’.
The show runs at the Memorial Theatre from December 29th to January 2nd, with evening performances on 29th, 30th and 2nd at 6.30pm and matinee performances on these days at 2.00pm.
The show is full of slapstick humour and popular songs, both new and old, including numbers by the Beatles and Queen and songs from Avenue Q and the Disney film ‘Aladdin,’
The cast is made up of familiar faces like Humphrey Barnes, Andrew Carpenter and Nick Caffreys, together with new talent in the form of Lottie Ball, Mollie Packer, Jake Kneller and many more. A total cast of three dozen also makes it far bigger than their professional counterparts who can only feature small cast numbers on cost grounds.
Once again scenery, costumes, orchestra etc. are all being professionally sourced and so the only ‘amateur’ thing about this production will be the fact that the actors aren’t being paid!
The principal line up is; Aladdin – Bethany Harris, Princess Mandarin – Lottie Ball, So-Shy – Mollie Packer, Widow Twankey – Nick Caffreys, Abanazar – Andrew Carpenter, Emperor – Humphrey Barnes, Wishee Washee – Ross Toten, Hu dun Wong – Andy Tawse, Hu dun Pong – Jake Kneller, Spirit of the Ring – Clare Poole, Genie of the Lamp – Tom Carpenter.
Tickets are on sale from the Memorial Theatre box office, which is open from 9.30am – 1pm from Monday- Saturday, tel. 01373 462795.
