FROME Town are edging closer to an all-time club record after defeating Bideford to clinch their 10th consecutive league win this season.
Eleven league wins in a row would see the Robins, whose average age is just 22, break a club record and secure a place in the club’s history.
Manager Darren Perrin said, “Last Saturday we equalled the club’s record for most consecutive wins in the league.
“It is a magnificent achievement to win 10 in a row and the players deserve all the credit. The team has fantastic enthusiasm, good pace, good footballers and they are great lads. They do not know when they are beaten.
“The atmosphere in the camp is fantastic. A lot of managers may say that about their team when they are winning, but at the start of the season, when we got off to a rocky start, the atmosphere and team spirit was high then, and is now at an all time high.”
Second place
Currently second in the Zamaretto League Division 1 (SW), a win for Town against mid-table side Gosport Borough, at home on Wednesday night (15th December), would set a new club record. The achievement is particularly impressive as Town are playing only their second season in this league, the highest level in the club’s history.
Darren said, “Everybody is looking forward to Wednesday to complete the club record. What the players have achieved already is unreal, I personally would love to see them win on Wednesday; for themselves, the supporters and everyone associated with the club.”
