Frome Town Community Benefit Society (FTCBS) is inviting new board members to join the team and help with the next phase of development of Badgers Hill as a asset for the town.
The FTCBS took on the running of the Badgers Hill stadium in November 2023. Some challenging times followed but as 2024 draws to a close, work on much-needed renovations of the facilities is about to begin.
FTCBS secretary David Parry said, “Frome Town Community Benefit Society has been operational for just over a year and after a challenging period, we are just about to see tangible progress at the Badgers Hill ground that will prove beneficial to the community. Work will soon commence on the construction of new changing rooms for the football teams that use the facility, repair of the clubhouse roof, a new fuel-efficient heating system, and other works that will preserve the facility for the use of the whole community in the future.
“There has been a lot of hard work from a few members on the CBS Board to get to this stage, with excellent support from Frome Town Council officers, Frome town councillors and the Football Supporters Association. In order to take this project to the next stage, the CBS is looking to recruit new members to the board to share the workload and preserve the facility for the long term.”
The new board will be selected at the CBS’s upcoming annual general meeting, which is due to be held on Tuesday 10th December starting at 7pm in the Chamber at Frome Town Hall.
“If you are interested in getting involved and helping out the community, please get in touch,” says David.
Frome Mayor Andy Jones said, “The Badgers Hill project has undoubtedly had some difficult times in the past year. The FTCBS was formed to save Badgers Hill because of its importance for Frome’s footballing tradition and its potential as a valuable community asset, now and in the future. Many of the early issues have been resolved after much hard work, and the FTCBS now needs new board members to take the project forward. Please consider joining the board if you have time and skills to share and help Badgers Hill achieve its enormous potential as a community resource.”
