Frome Stop War will next week be hosting a talk by internationally acclaimed investigative journalist Vanessa Beeley.
Vanessa has spent much of her life in the Middle East, has worked in Gaza and in August returned from a fact finding mission to Syria as part of the US Peace Delegation. Her talk will be at The Wheatsheaves on Bath Street from 7.30pm on Wednesday 9th November.
Frome Stop War’s Sheila Coombes said, “Vanessa’s travels in Syria took her to the heart of the conflict in Aleppo where she met Syrian citizens and gave blood for the victims of violence at a local hospital. She met with doctors who witness the aftermath of daily mortar shelling, gas canister and car bomb attacks perpetrated by rebels who indiscriminately kill and maim innocents on a daily basis.
“Vanessa’s work for the US Peace Delegation included historic meetings at the highest level with her work referenced by speakers at the UN. Her exhaustive work with regard to the funding and media promotion of the ‘White Helmets’ (aka Syria Civil Defence force) has caused shockwaves internationally, and has played a large part in the Nobel Commissioners’ decision not to award this US/UK/ NATO backed group the Nobel Peace Prize.
“While in Syria, Vanessa met with the real Syria Civil Defence force – a group formed in the 1950s who, unlike NATO’s ‘White Helmets’, work in all areas of Syria – not just those held by rebels and their Al Qaeda and ISIS affiliates, and do not torture or behead Syrian citizens.
“Vanessa will be detailing her research on this group which is now being mirrored by other investigators and even reflected by some in the mainstream.
“Vanessa will be giving her audience at this landmark Frome Stop War event, the benefit of her observations while in Syria, her experiences and her in depth first hand research. This lady is formidable, she is intrepid and she is a beacon for truth in a world of manipulation that fools the well meaning and furthers the agenda of others.”
