FROME 3s avoided the rain to complete a fantastic team win away at Uphill Castle.
Having won the toss, Frome chose to bowl and openers Brown and Lawrence-Berkeley got off to a very economical start, with Lawrence-Berkeley picking up excellent figures of 2 for 10 from his 8 overs.
After this it was time for the youngsters – Ben Cooper and Tom Richards bowled brilliantly, managing to restrict the opposition despite the extremely short boundaries. Richards picked up his first senior wicket caught by Cooper ending with figures of 1 for 39. After, Joe Smart had Lloyd caught for a well made 66 by Ethan Smart. Uphill Castle ended on a competitive 201 for 4.
Frome got off to a brisk start with early boundaries from Lamb and Brown taking them to 30 for 2. Lamb was then joined by captain Cantrell and together they pushed Frome towards the total before Cantrell fell for 39. As the light got worse and drizzle started falling, a quick 17 from Larder followed by 45 from Joe Smart left Frome with 20 to win with 4 wickets left in hand.
With the help of a few extras Frome got over the line with Pearson and Lamb at the crease. Lamb ending with a fantastic 63 not out to earn Frome 3s their first win of the season. They look to continue their momentum with a tough trip away to Temple Cloud next Saturday.
