FROME College’s GCSE and A-level students, whose exams were cancelled due to the cornavirus pandemic, will be given grades estimated by their teachers.
The government has said that exam regulators and exam boards will work with teachers to ensure that students are awarded a grade which ‘fairly reflects the work that they have put in’.
Students who wish to, will also have an option to sit an exam early in the next academic year.
The news comes following a period of limbo for the college’s students, as they awaited news about their future after the government announced that all UK schools would be closed from Friday 20th March for the forseeable future, and that exams in May and June would be cancelled as part of its efforts to control the spread of coronavirus.
