FROME College show positive results in the Secondary School League tables published this month.
The school obtained a progress 8 score of 0.21 for their GCSE students which measures progress pupils made between year 6 and year 11 relative to similar pupils at other schools. If scored 0, the school is in line with the average and higher equals a better result.
In terms of the school’s attainment 8 measure, which measures the average pupil achievement across up to eight subjects, including English and maths, the school scored 45.9 in relation to the national average of 46.5, which is higher than the local average of 44.9.
In GCSE results, 41% of pupils achieved a grade 5 or above in English and maths compared to the national average of 43.3% and local average of 39.3%. The progress of A-level students at the school was ranked as average, scoring -0.08.
At Frome College, 5.5% of students gained AAB or higher grades in at least two ‘facilitating subjects’ compared to an average of 16.2% of students in England and 12.2% of students in Somerset. These subjects include maths, English, sciences and languages, which help students compete for top university places.
