Residents in Frome who are curious about fostering are being invited to a relaxed information session on Thursday 26th February.
The drop-in event, hosted by Fostering in Somerset, offers a chance to speak informally with local foster carers over a free coffee and slice of cake.
The session aims to give people a realistic insight into what fostering involves, with no pressure to take your interest further. Staff and carers will be on hand to answer questions, share experiences and explain the support available, including full training and weekly payments.
“The event is designed to be welcoming and accessible, making it an ideal first step for anyone wanting to explore fostering in a supportive, informal setting,” said Lead Cllr Heather Shearer, Member for Children, Families and Education at Somerset Council.
“The event takes place on Thursday 26th February, from 6pm to 8pm at The Good Heart, 7 Palmer Street, Frome BA11 1DS. Although booking is not essential, we would encourage anyone planning to attend to register their interest, as this will help us with catering. Visit Eventbrite and search ‘Fostering in Somerset’ to book.
“Fostering can change a child’s life, and sometimes all it takes to get started is a friendly conversation.
“I’d really encourage anyone who’s even a little curious to pop in for a free coffee and slice of cake and meet our wonderful foster carers. You’re very welcome to bring a friend or family member along, so they can learn about the role and process too.
“There’s no pressure to commit – just a warm welcome and the chance to find out whether fostering could be right for you, whether that’s a plan for now or the distant future.”
