Coming to Frome is cut and paste, audio visual captain (with his tongue stuck firmly in his cheek) DJ YODA! at the Cheese & Grain on Friday 15th May.
Duncan Beiny aka DJ Yoda is no ordinary scratch DJ. His seminal How To Cut & Paste series showcases a tongue-in-cheek mixing style that prompted Q Magazine to declare him “one of the ten DJs to see before you die”, while Hip Hop Connection voted him “one of the top three DJs in the world”.
The past decade has seen Yoda evolve from hip-hop beginnings, using his world renowned turntable skills and a truckload of influences as diverse as funk, trap, pop, reggae, drum ‘n’ bass, and even big band swing and country & western, to make unashamed party music.
Dj Yoda is a busy man! Releasing his first album (with full band) ‘Breakfast of Champions’ in March, became a BBC 6 Music 6 Mix resident after becoming the first dj to perform an audio visual mix on 6 Music.
Somerset’s finest will be supporting Yoda! House of Commoners a seven piece funked-up live hip-hop band will be the perfect accompaniment to Yoda, local crate digger legend Barry Breaks will be playing strictly 45’s and Frome’ very own superstar Dj Doctor Hooka will be finishing the night off in his trademark Ghetto Funk style.
Tickets from Cheese and Grain, Skiddle, Kushi and Raves from the Grave
