THE Lions Club of Frome raised £5,000 at their charity golf day on Friday 17th May, awarding the money to Nova Sports and Coaching, a group that helps to make sport inclusive for all abilities.
Lions Club of Frome said, “We would like to thank Chris Vincent for his hospitality at Orchardleigh Golf Club during the event. Together we raised £5,000 and the charity chosen by the Lions Club is Nova Sports and Coaching, which is a non-profit making organisation specialising in strategically developing high quality inclusive sport to individuals of all abilities.
“They visit schools, colleges and community groups to introduce sport to disabled and non-disabled individuals in the Bath and Frome areas. Sports include athletics, rugby, football, boccia, powerchair football, basketball, dodgeball, tennis and archery. Wheelchair basketball is played in Frome by the Frome Falcons.
“A cheque was presented to Alex Johnson and Jenny Rutter, the organisers and coaches, by the Lions president Peter Rumming. The Lions and the charity wish to thank the main sponsors of the event, Western Building Consultants Group, Chase De Vere and Lansdown Mazda.
“Sponsors of competitions on the course were Rogers & Co Frome, Lansdown Place Wealth Management, CW Accountancy Frome, Penleigh Farm and Butchers, Pearson May Warminster, Dave Lucy Ltd Frome and Cayfords Family Butchers Frome.”
