Members of Frome Lions Club attended a recent meeting of the Bath & District Parkinson’s Society held at the Cheese & Grain and presented them with a cheque for £1,075.61.
The money raised came from the proceeds of this year’s haybale collection, which is one of the Lions longest running fundraisers. Each year, the Lions invite members of the farming community in and around Frome to donate bales of hay or straw which are then sold to other farmers who have not produced any. They can also make cash donations should they so wish in lieu.
Acting chairman of the Parkinson’s Bath & District branch, Peter Mitchell, said he was extremely grateful to the Lions for nominating them as this year’s beneficiary and said the money would be used to support the Frome section’s many and varied activities.
