THE Lions Club of Frome presented a cheque for over £4,000 to a charity funding game-changing research into brain tumours.

Lions member Mike Geake reports, “At its recent meeting held at Frome Rugby Club, the President of Frome Lions Club, Greg Wood, presented the Multiple District 105 (British Isles) Lions Brain Tumour Research Lead, Fran Stary, with a cheque for £4,250, which was the proceeds of our annual charity golf day held at the Mendip Golf Club last September.
“Lions Clubs International (MD105) British Isles is working in partnership with Brain Tumour Research to raise £1million over four years to help fund game-changing research and raise awareness of the impact of brain tumours.
“Brain Tumour Research is dedicated to raising funds for continuous and sustainable scientific research into brain tumours. It supports one of the UK’s largest collaborative groups of laboratory-based scientists.
“The Lions would like to thank the Mendip Golf Club along with overall sponsor Chase de Vere and competition sponsors Rogers & Co, The Royce Clinic Ltd, Dave Lucey Ltd, SPW Mechanical, CW Accountancy and Penleigh Butchers along with all the participants for their generous support which has helped the Lions raise this magnificent sum for their chosen charity.”
